Juergen Schumacher

Juergen began his career in the woodworking industry in Germany. Since then he has gained (30) uninterrupted years of experience in Europe, Canada and the United States.

He is EX-FACTORY's CEO and the driving force behind the company's success and unique market position. Throughout the industry he is well known for his innovative marketing approaches. Juergen personally knows most of the several hundred dealers and distributors involved in the sale and service of woodworking machinery throughout the USA and Canada, and it seems that nearly everybody knows him!

Jeff Terrill

Jeff Terrill

Jeff's decades in the woodworking machinery industry began in 1967 as a Technician in Portland, Oregon. Soon, he joined a Pacific Northwest machinery dealer and subsequently became their sales manager. In 1982, he founded his own woodworking machinery dealership. It wasn’t long before Jeff was devoting all his energy and attention to the millwork and solid wood remanufacturing industry. For most of his career, he has worked closely with machinery manufacturers in the US and Europe. He has consulted with machinery builders concerning new machines designed for specific applications, improvements in existing designs, and implementing new technologies for the industry his company served.

Ron Varda

Ron Varda

Ron was raised in Terre Haute, joined the military service, and afterwards graduated from Indiana State University. Since that time, Ron has been in Finishing Equipment sales for (30) years. He has sold every kind of finishing application equipment from conventional coatings spray, roll coat, vacuum coating, to powder UV and everything in-between.

During the course of his career, Ron has worked for GRACO INC as district sales manger for Indiana and Kentucky and from there to distributor sales. He later joined RHODES SYSTEMS for conventional finishing sales and for the last (8) years has been the President of GIARDINA FINISHING SYSTEMS USA for UV flat link finishing.

Bob Bullin

Bob Bullin

Bob, a native of North Carolina, earned his degree in Wood Science & Lumber Technology from Haywood College in Waynesville, NC. Today, he brings 35 plus years in the woodworking industry to EX-FACTORY.

His early career years were in production and management for high volume and high end traditional furniture manufacturers. In the early 1980s, he helped form QUATTROTECH, which later became known as BIESSE AMERICA. This career change into machinery sales and engineering projects covered the next two decades and introduced Bob to woodworking companies throughout the USA, Canada, Mexico, and Europe.

At EX-FACTORY, Bob is eager to share with you his product and system-wide equipment knowledge, whether it is for CNC Machining Centers, Horizontal Panels Saws, Angular Plants, Material Handing, JIT Production Lines, or practically any wood/panel manufacturing process.

Mark Green

Mark Green

Born and raised in Massachusetts, Mark earned his BA in Business Management from San Antonio College, TX. He chose a career path in the primary and secondary wood products market, starting as a Lumber Grader and graduating to Sawmill Owner. In 1990 he received the "Small Businessman of the Year Award" from the local Chamber of Commerce.

The Weinig Group in North Carolina offered Mark the opportunity of a career change to woodworking machinery. There he coordinated complex "application-based" solid wood machine sales.

After more than a decade with Weinig, Mark became a strong addition to the EX-FACTORY Team. Over the past years with EXF, Mark has sold hundreds of “Used “ Moulders, Grinders, and Saws into the Solid Wood Industry. His sales reflect his dedication to the Industry. He works closely with Buyers to locate the “correct” machine purchase by asking the “right” questions the Buyer needs answered and solving questions with the best choice in equipment for the solid wood industry.

Marc Tremblay

Marc Tremblay

Native of Quebec, Marc has worked up the ladder from warehouse supervisor to purchasing agent for the industrial cleaning industry and teacher of computer skills at a business college. The ladder extended to the Woodworking Industry for several years with the sale and purchase of equipment. The next "rung" brought Marc to appraising woodworking equipment, a "natural" for him.

During the transition to Appraising, Marc has attained membership in good standing with the Canadian Personal Property Appraiser Group (CPPAG) and the Uniformed Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP). He is in the process of adding the Accredited Equipment Appraiser (AEA) and Association of Machinery and Equipment Appraisers(AMEA) designations. In his "spare" time that is becoming increasingly valuable, he finds time to be the head coach of the local high school football program.

Bill Christoffersen

Bill Christoffersen

Bill has more than 30 years of experience in the composite panel industry as well as a BS degree in Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, NM. The many phases of panel processing with which he has been extensively involved include the manufacturing and processing of board, UV filling, curtain coating, direct roller coating, Electron-Beam-cure (EB) decorating, roll laminating, and short-cycle press laminating. He was also instrumental in the development of board substrate for the laminated flooring industry.

Bill has managed engineering and plant construction for a variety of projects including the previously described coating and laminating lines. He has also designed, installed, and supervised component parts manufacturing plants for the kitchen cabinet and electronics industries. On the raw material preparation and handling side, he has designed and developed facilities for wood chip handling, milling, and wood drying.

Tony Cornacchione

Tony Cornacchione

Tony is graduate of the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada, where he obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. He joined Kimberly Clark (paper industry) for 5 years as a Design & Project Engineer and designed machines, material handling and air systems.

He later became a partner in API Machinery and was responsible for the design and manufacturing of custom-built machinery for the woodworking, metal, plastic, and food industries. API later moved on to become a dealer in new and used woodworking machinery.

Tony lives in Toronto, Ontario and works from his Toronto office. Norm Schust

Norm Schust

While a native New Yorker, Norman's family moved to Ontario, Canada during his childhood. Following high school, Norm worked at various jobs until he became a Thermwood CNC Router programmer at a small custom component manufacturer. Within a year, he was foreman, in charge of all production; during his spare hours, he used the facility to learn how to operate the machinery and build furniture. In the process, he discovered his future was in CNC Woodworking Machinery.

After several years, a larger firm offered Norm a more advanced CAD/CAM position that included machinery programming. This led to more opportunities in CNC programming and equipment demonstration. In 1999, Norm accepted a position at Anderson America as applications engineer and has been involved with them since.

In 2005, Norm moved back to the US as Anderson's Southeast Regional Sales Manager to develop and expand that market. At EX FACTORY, Norm is a Product Manager for our line of Used CNC machinery; in some of his spare time, he is a fan of Charlotte's NASCAR racing! Karl Balg

Karl Balg

Karl was born and raised in Southern Germany. He graduated from the University of Stuttgart with a major in Mechanical Engineering and a minor in Electro- Mechanical Designs.

After working for several years for BOSCH Automotive Division, he became involved with a well-known European Woodworking Machinery Manufacturer and was a key player in establishing their North American Operations during the early eighties.

As a Manufacture's Sales-Engineer, he visited and worked with large and small Woodworking Companies all over North America. Later on and for more than 20 years, his focus became more local when he operated a Woodworking Machinery Distributor Business in Southern California.

Karl has extensive knowledge with Edgebanders, Beam Saws, Drill/Dowel/Miter/Mortise Machinery, and CNC Machining-Centers. In recent years, he also conducted Equipment Appraisals and organized Liquidation & Auction Events. His attention to detail and his straight forward, hands-on approach has helped many woodworkers grow and enhance their profitability; allow him to help yours, too!

Bob Dykstra

Bob Dykstra

Based in our Zeeland, MI warehouse facility, Bob brings full knowledge of manufacturing processes for composites, plastics, glass, stone and woodworking fabrications. He attended Davenport College in the mid-70’s and began his career in the woodworking industry. At age 28 he became plant superintendent of a progressive wood & plastic processing plant that specialized in miter fold processes and implemented CNC technology.

In the mid-80’s, Bob changed his career focus to the CNC machinery supply-side of the industry. As a representative of CMS CNC routers, he was introduced to mfg. processes from all CNC milling of non-ferrous materials and served large and small companies such as Bose, Steelcase, Sauders, Herman Miller, Formed Solutions, Chrysler and General Motors.

Louis Sicotte

Louis Sicotte

Louis is a native of the Quebec Province, Canada, and has a degree in marketing from Montreal University. After graduation, he joined his family's business, a well recognized manufacturer of woodworking machinery. There he learned all aspects of woodworking machinery, from conception to manufacturing to sales. His first efforts focused on developing a distribution network serving the Canadian and US markets.

After 14 years with the family business, the company was sold, and Louis joined Homag Group as branch manager for Eastern Canada. During his 5 years with Homag, he received thorough training on Panel Processing Product equipment and complete Lines. He frequently traveled to Europe and became very familiar with Lines competitive to the Homag Group.

After Homag, Louis opened his own machinery dealership in partnership with E & R Systems, MA. During those years he imported and sold new and used machinery from Europe. In that capacity he also broadened his knowledge to include CNC machines, as well as Solid Wood Processing Equipment.

Fluent in both French and English, Louis is EX-FACTORY's representative primarily servicing Quebec and the Maritimes across all machinery categories.

Amanda Solomon

Amanda Solomon

Amanda Solomon was born, raised and educated in the Holland/Zeeland, MI area. She began her career as a Machine Operator in the production of automobile parts for Mercedes Benz. With the decline in the auto industry, she was introduced to the world of Woodworking Machinery by accepting a position at EX-FACTORY's then newly opened Warehouse, Showroom & Machinery Reconditioning Center located in Zeeland, MI.

Her first responsibilities were as Machinery Cleaner and Photographer. She quickly gained "first hand" knowledge of woodworking equipment and volunteered to assist visitors during inspection and demonstration visits. Soon after, Amanda was promoted to Customer Service and Administrative Support to EXF Zeeland's General Manager.

Today, Amanda is the "go to" person at our Zeeland Facility diligently fulfilling her responsibilities as Warehouse & Operations Manager. She is the first contact for customers and EX-FACTORY alike to schedule repairs in the warehouse and to track inventory be it New or Used.

Joe Retzlaff

Joe Retzlaff

Born in Hamburg, Germany, Joe's family immigrated to Montreal, Canada, when he was a youngster. Montreal then became Joe's permanent home until recent years when he moved to the Toronto area. Following traditional schooling in Montreal, Joe pursued a machinist apprenticeship at the Montreal Technical Institute and accepted a position with a metal foundry. His responsibilities shifted from machinist to sales, first involved with parts & tooling and later to Sales Management of North American and International sales.

Once well established in Sales, Joe turned his focus to Woodworking Machinery. Through his subsequent 25 years experience, he has acquired extensive technical knowledge and has excelled in meeting customers' objectives and problem solving to adapt to the complete spectrum of client and management styles.

Michel Hamel

Michel Hamel

A Canadian native, Michel was born and educated in Montreal. He earned his Marketing Degree from the University of Trois Rivieres and a Bookkeeping Degree from the College Girardin.

Michel started his woodworking career with his own Power Transmission Equipment Dealership. For over two decades, he, his sales staff, and warehousing resources served the wood industry in all Canadian Provinces. When asked to become Sales Manager of Verville/Premier Tech, Michel shifted his focus to the Baling/Bagging business sector. For more than a decade, he specialized in compression and loose bagger equipment. During those years, Michel designed and sold over 200 Turnkey Bagging Operations (storage bins, presses, palletizing equipment, and stretch wrapping machinery), resulting in approx. 80% of Verville's North American Wood Shaving Bagging Operations.

Bernie Straple

Bernie Straple

Bernie, a native of Charlotte, NC, spent 16 years in Atlanta, GA building his career around customer service, sales, distribution, and developing his personal mantra to provide customers with a fair price for a good product.

In the mid 1990s, he returned to Charlotte and started his career in Material Handling Equipment manufacturing. As a team member covering the US and Canada, Bernie worked very closely with the company's design and manufacturing of Material Handling Equipment at the packaging end of a production line - a focus lasting 14 years. Industries serviced included forestry, brick/block, metals, can/bottle, corrugated, and just about any product that needed to be unitized after production.

During these years, Bernie became intimately involved with Conveyors, Automatic Strapping Machines for steel and plastic strapping material, and Specialty "one-of-a-kind" Equipment as standard units or designed from concept to a fabricated machine to meet the customer’s specifications & requirements. Ed Webb

A native of Norwalk Connecticut, Ed grew up in the San Joaquin Valley of Central California before moving to Michigan to pursue his college education in Marketing & Business Administration. Following graduation from Eastern Michigan University with a BBA in Marketing, Ed began his Sales Career with a steel service center and later joined a Detroit metal stamping company.

Ed developed his passion for machine tools used in the Metalworking Industry while working for Tannewitz Inc. Over a 22-year period, he gained expertise in the metal finishing area, specializing in Wide Belt Sander applications for deburring, surface preparation, and stainless steel polishing. He has provided product training in the proper use of Finishing Equipment, as well as working with Engineering and Manufacturing departments to determine the best equipment to meet their application's requirements. More recently, Ed has worked in Michigan as a manufacturer’s representative providing Metalworking Machinery and related supplies items.

Jason Cook

Jason Cook

Jason is a native North Carolinian with over 15 years experience in the Stone & Marble Industry. From his teenage years in competitive rock climbing & big granite wall climbing, Jason has worked in all aspects of the Granite Industry from sales, CNC programming, fabrication, and installation - Jason knows Stone. To put it into writing, he just completed his first book dealing with the aspects of granite countertops.

At the same time, Customer Service has always been one of Jason's strong points. Jason prides himself on his honesty and business ethic. Torry Hiddema

Torry Hiddema

Born and raised in West Michigan, Torry began a long career in woodworking as a leadman for two of the area’s leading companies. He gained complete hands-on knowledge of & experience in all aspects of manufacturing from rough-mill to shipping. Later, he accepted a Head Fabricator position and became adept at using CNC equipment to create custom material handling & conveyor systems solutions. When offered an Operations Management position, he acquired skills in robotic operation & programming, custom robotic work cell startup, as well as those of an ISO/QS 9000 Auditor. Torry was promoted to Sales that required travel throughout the US & Mexico.

An Online Auctions opportunity was presented to Torry, where he worked with Company Owners, Banks, and Creditors to liquidate their assets. Activities encompassed total organization & coordination of all Auction stages, from initial contract to final payment of Auction funds to the Seller.

With hands-on and Management experience in wood, metal, & granite processing, Torry focus is sales. Vicente Jorge

Vicente Jorge

Since childhood, Vicente was surrounded by woodworking machinery due to the familty business. A native of Spain, he moved to Germany at age 18 to train and work with Homag Holzbearbeitungs systeme GmbH, specifically in the manufacture and operation of woodworking machinery. Upon his return to Spain he graduated as an "Advanced Expert in Industrial Equipment Maintenance", attended the Universidad Politécnica de Valencia (UPV), Spain, and then the Technische Universität Berlin (TU Berlin), Germany, where he was awarded a Bachelor of Forestry Engineering degree.

Following graduation, Vicente worked with AGS System, Spain, a company specialized in the repair and small-scale manufacturing of industrial machinery for the production of consumer goods. In his more recent years, he worked in Spain, training customers in the use of their newly installed Homag Group equipment, enhancing strong relationships between Homag's technicians and customers. In 2013, he moved to the United States to continue his professional growth.

Jim Reedy

Jim Reedy

A native Western New Yorker, Jim’s electrical trades and Air Force technical training served as a solid foundation for his position as an iron foundry industrial electrician, where he excelled in trouble shooting and maintaining large industrial machinery and plant electrical systems.

In the mid-80's, Jim was recruited by a large RTA furniture manufacturer for his expertise to help maintain their state-of- the-art European Woodworking Machinery, where he was instrumental in increasing productivity and reducing downtime. He eventually joined Holzma-US as their lead technician for large Angular Panel Saws, progressing to National Service Manager in less than (2) years; he managed (8) technicians and provided customer phone support.

More recently, Jim has operated his own industrial machinery service company and worked for End Users, Machinery Manufacturers, and Dealers in maintaining and integrating sophisticated CNC machinery into Plant Production Systems.

From 2000 to 2004, Jim worked at EX-FACTORY in machinery sales. He is glad to be part of the EXF team again and welcomes the opportunities to put his eclectic skill set and years of industrial machinery experience to work for you!

Rob Verboom

Rob Verboom

Born and raised in The Netherlands, Rob spent his "after school hours" at his family's woodworking machinery business, VERBOOM. The company was an importer of a wide range of woodworking machinery into The Netherlands. VERBOOM also produced Wide Belt Sanders and Moulders that were sold worldwide, including the USA.

Rob "grew up" through the family business ranks from production, accounting to sales, which he preferred the most. In Sales, he spent 10 years throughout Europe, almost 2 years in the USA, in addition to frequent visits to the Far East, Australia, New Zealand.

After the 1988 sale of VERBOOM, Rob continued with B-to-B industrial sales. He became a sales manager, setup an export department, became an agent for several European companies, and later was a commercial director heavily involved in export activities. After his many years in sales, Rob established VEM Metallurgie, an equipment and consumables trading company serving the Benelux-countries representing top brands mainly from Germany

Ed Flowerree

Ed Flowerree

Ed grew up in Missouri and graduated from Northwest Missouri College with a Mechanical Engineering Degree and minor in analytical chemistry. Thereafter, he gained years of experience as a Sawmill Machinery Manufacture for the Secondary Forest Products Industry. In the process he became "expert" with Re-Saw, Gang Saws, Rip Saws, Edgers, and Cutoff & Scragg Mills, too.

Additional career activities include his own Dealership for a large variety of Pallet Production Machines for new and recycling equipment. During these years, Ed gained much experience with Wood Grinders, Hammer Mills & Hogs, Chippers, Palletizing Systems, and Automation & Robotics.

Heinz Marx

Heinz Marx

Heinz Marx, born and raised in Aachen, Germany, graduated from Holzfachschule Bad Wildungen, as pattern maker for Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Technician for Wood Processing.

His career began as a Technician with International Exhibitions, which led to more than (30) years' experience in the use of tropical timber in the Sawmill Industry, Sharpening, Moulding, and Drying. He was involved in various Sawmill, Forestry, and Forestry Management projects predominantly in Latin America and Africa. At the same time, Heinz added Spanish to his fluency in the German and English languages.

Throughout his assignments, Heinz also acquired in-depth experience in the designing, planning, and assembling of Industrial Timber Plants, whether small, medium, or large facilities, in the Forestry Sector. He offers consulting according to customer specific requirements.

John "Howie" Howard

Born, raised, and educated in England, Howie has 30+ years of experience in the woodworking and panel processing industries at all levels, including 10 years of experience as a production and industrial/development engineer.

He is widely regarded within the UK as one of the country's leading machinery, equipment, and automation specialists for the solid wood and panel processing industries. This also includes associated industries, such as construction, glass processing, sheet metal processing, engineered wood products, and fiber waste resourcing, biomass, and biomass generation.

In 2003, Howie established "Howard Management Consultants", providing companies with a wide range of services from solutions to production problems, product research, to turnkey systems. Among his long list of clients, Howie was the exclusive UK Consultant for Biel, SA, Europe's largest independent automation, panel processing, and turnkey specialists.

John Hager

John Hager

John Hager began his career in woodworking in 1970 as an apprentice Cabinetmaker. In the process and over the years, he learned all the associated cabinetmaking skills required that eventually led to his becoming a General Manager, then Vice President of a leading Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturer on the West Coast.

In 1997, John transitioned into Woodworking Machinery Sales in Southern CA, serving as Service Manager, while also conducting outside machinery Sales. He later accepted another sales & service position with Capitol Machinery/Unique Machine & Tool.

From 2000 - 2010, John accepted the position of Service and National Sales Support for VIET Wide Belt Sanders and achieved the largest sales growth for Viet during his tenure. There he led their National Distributor Interface and ran the VIET USA operations. Prior to joining EXF, his most recent activities were that of a self-employed Consultant.

Bill Merrigan

Bill Merrigan

Bill was born and raised in New York and educated at the Christian Brothers Academy, Golden West College, and Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He joined EX-FACTORY in October 2016 and brought with him over 35 years of Machine Tool experience.

While still in school, Bill began working at a CNC shop in the Aerospace Industry. Early in his career, he spent 10 years as Machine Tool Sales Engineer in California. He then acquired positions with American and Taiwanese Machine tool builders as a Sales Manager, as well as Vice president of Sales for a German builder. Later , he progressed to establishing his own companies in New York and Minnesota, where he ran machine tool distributorships. His excellent experience led Bill to write articles for MetalForming Magazine, The Fabricator and Sheet Metal News (UK). In addition, he has also been a speaker at Coil Processing Symposiums during the International Machine Tool Show (IMTS), Fabtech, and PMA Metalform show.

Jim Petrin

Jim Petrin

Jim Petrin grew up in Massachusetts where he attended trade school and learned basic machining technology skills and was introduced to Numeric Control Programming and Manufacturing. He served as an apprentice for two years in CNC programmer and operator roles. Over the next sixteen years, Jim served as an Operator, Programmer and eventually, a Shop Foreman in the CNC Metal industry. This time period exposed Jim to a variety of machines, controls and CAD/CAM software, paving the way for his future exceptional skill set.

In 1996, Jim went to work for Alphacam, a CAD/CAM software company, to work as a technician training and supporting clients in the training center and onsite. This also introduced him to post processor creation and development of software applications. Additionally, working for Alphacam introduced Jim to the CNC woodworking industry and opened the door to a bright future in sales.

In 1998, Jim moved to the Charlotte, NC area to bring his talents to the CNC woodworking industry and found he was a great fit for sales with his superior client focus. He had an undeniable ability to provide the highest quality solutions required to transform production environments into profitable areas.

Jim has served as a Sales Manager for Alphacam and held Regional Manager and Product Manager roles in the CNC machine industry with Biesse America. Walt Piedrahita

Walt Piedrahita

Walt Piedrahita, a native of Colombia, South America was raised in Florida and later made Atlanta, Georgia his home. After High School, Walt joined the USMC, where he trained in the aviation field as a Helicopter Mechanic. Upon being Honorably discharged he was hired by Sikorsky Aircraft as a Field Service Engineer. He worked as part of a field service team working with the Department of Defense both overseas and domestically.

In 1984 Walt returned to Atlanta and co-founded Old Tannery Woodworks. That was his introduction into the woodworking environment. After a couple of years in the business Walt went to work for the SCM Group as a Technician and, eventually moved on to become Sales Engineer, then Sales Manager and International Sales Manager, with responsibilities for the South American Markets.

In addition to Walt’s time at SCM Group, he has worked for and with some of the leading companies in the woodworking Sector, such as Holz-Her, Giben, Biesse. In the Software arena along with Microvellum he started Microvellum Latin America.

With over 30 years of experience in the woodworking industry, Walt is well known and respected in both the Domestic and International Markets.

Norm Reid

Norm Reid

Norm was raised in Myrtle Beach, SC. In High School he was an all-around athlete, he played football, basketball, and track. He earned an athletic scholarship in football to the University of South Carolina, where he played Outside Linebacker and was a three year letterman.

After graduating, Norm began his career in Management. His Management career took him to Honolulu, HI, where he spent five years, before moving to Charlotte, NC, to begin a career in sales. Over the years he has worked in various Sales industries; Insurance, Staffing, Uniform, and Facility Services. His sales career is and has been very successful, he has won multiple awards and trips.

Norm brings to us over 10 years of successful Sales experience. Norm is known for his integrity, work ethic, discipline, and the ability to fit in with people of multiple backgrounds, beliefs, and cultures.

Nick Lange

Nick Lange

Nick Lange was born and raised in Saint Paul Minnesota. After graduating from Arizona State University, he returned to Minnesota to pursue a career in Metalworking Machinery Distribution and Sales. Gaining an elevated level of responsibility, he rotated into different management roles, eventually earning a promotion to the position of General Sales Manager.

Nick brings to EX-FACTORY a decade of experience in Metal Forming, Fabrication, and Chip-making Machinery to EX-FACTORY. He understands the strategic and operational risks behind pre-owned equipment and knows how to accurately assess when investing in new machinery is more appropriate.
